Police Investigate Three Separate Incidents Across the City

The Grand Rapids Police Department is investigating three separate shootings that occurred over the weekend, leaving two people with non-life-threatening injuries and resulting in one arrest.

First Incident: Shot at Vehicle on Saturday

The first shooting happened on Saturday around 7:30 p.m. in the 1400 block of Plainfield Avenue NE. Officers were flagged down and told there was a possible shooting at the scene.

GRPD found evidence of a weapon being discharged but did not locate any victims at the scene or at local hospitals. Officers were told that a suspect shot at a vehicle, according to department reports.

Second Incident: Woman Injured at Apartment Complex

A second shooting was reported on Sunday night at about 10:30 p.m. at the Eastpointe Apartments located on the 1400 block of East Fulton.

Officers found an adult woman with non-life-threatening injuries at the scene. The suspect in the shooting, another adult woman, was taken into custody by GRPD.

"Our thoughts are with those involved, and the safety and well-being of our tenants and employees is our top priority," said Hope Network CEO Bob Von Kaenel. "We are cooperating fully with the Grand Rapids Police Department as they conduct their investigation."

Investigators believe an altercation between the suspect and the victim led to the shooting.

Third Incident: Man Treated After Shooting

A third shooting occurred just before midnight on Sunday. Officers responded to a call from a local hospital after an adult man with a gunshot wound was brought in.

Police located the scene at the intersection of Eastern Avenue SE and Burton Street SE. The victim's injuries are non-life-threatening, according to GRPD.

Ongoing Investigation

The investigation remains active across all three incidents. Police have not released names of victims or suspects at this time.

The apartment complex involved in the second shooting is near Aquinas College on Fulton Street. Hope Network, which operates the property, stated that all housing and operations are continuing as normal while cooperating with law enforcement.
