Walker Residents Invited to Open Interviews for Fire Chief Finalists
The City of Walker is holding open interviews on Monday, Oct. 12 for three finalists vying to become the city's next fire chief, a successor to outgoing Chief Russell Shoultz.
WALKER, Mich. — Walker residents will have a chance to hear directly from three finalists being considered to become the city's next fire chief during a series of open interviews next week.
The City of Walker invited residents to attend the public interviews, held on Monday, Oct. 12, as it searches for a successor to Fire Chief Russell Shoultz.
"We know finding a successor to Chief Russell Shoultz will not come easily, but this process is an important step for the City of Walker as we look to progress into the future," Walker Mayor Gary Carey said.
The interviews will be held inside the City Hall Commission Chambers at 4243 Remembrance Road Northwest. Residents may attend any or all of the interviews in person.
To ensure fairness for all candidates, the interviews will not be livestreamed, according to the City of Walker.
The schedule is as follows:
- 9 a.m.: Scotty Bush, Hendersonville, Tennessee
- 11 a.m.: David Moore, Cincinnati, Ohio
- 1:30 p.m.: Sean Canto, Ottumwa, Iowa
City officials said attending the interviews will allow residents to learn more about each candidate's leadership approach and how they would lead the Walker Fire Department moving forward. The City Commission hopes to select a finalist following the interviews.
