# Kentwood Police Locate Vehicle and Person of Interest in Fatal Hit-and-Run of 17-Year-Old Teen

KENTWOOD, Mich. — Kentwood Police have found the suspected vehicle and identified a person of interest in a fatal hit-and-run that killed a 17-year-old pedestrian.

The crash occurred on May 6 in the area of Eastern Avenue SE and Hardwick Street SE, just south of 52nd Street. Police say Stephon Harris was leaving work when he was struck by the vehicle.

Harris was a junior at Kelloggsville High School and was nearing the end of his junior year, according to family members.

Kentwood Police described the likely hit-and-run vehicle last week as a dark-colored SUV with damage to the front and passenger side. Investigators located the suspected vehicle using license plate reader technology and local CCTV footage.

The vehicle has been secured.

Since the investigation is ongoing, KPD is not releasing any names at this time. The person of interest has not been identified to the public.
