Jersey Mike's Subs Brings Fresh Sub Sandwiches to Cascade and Downtown Grand Rapids

Grand Rapids residents now have two new spots to grab their favorite submarine sandwiches as Jersey Mike's Subs continues its rapid expansion across West Michigan. The popular sandwich chain recently opened two new locations in the Grand Rapids area while also participating in a company-wide charity initiative.

The first new location opened at 6260 28th Street SE in Cascade, taking over a former Subway space near Thornapple Brewing Company. The second location launched earlier in March at 6670 Kalamazoo Avenue SE in downtown Grand Rapids.

Grand Opening Fundraiser at Kalamazoo Avenue Location

Franchise owner Mac Ganzak held a grand opening and fundraiser from March 4-8 at the Kalamazoo Avenue location to support the Kent Public Schools Education Foundation. The community-driven event offered a unique way for customers to contribute to local education.

Before the opening, customers could obtain special fundraising coupons at the location. During the grand opening weekend, those with coupons could donate $3 to the KPS Education Foundation in exchange for a regular sub. Attendance required a coupon to be eligible for the fundraising option.

Jersey Mike's Subs Known for Quality Ingredients

The restaurant chain is known for its premium meats and cheeses, which are sliced on the spot and piled high on in-store baked bread. The go-to orders are made "Mike's Way," which includes onions, lettuce and tomatoes with red wine vinegar and an olive oil blend.

The restaurant also serves grilled cheesesteaks. Customers can order in-store, online through the website or mobile app, or via third-party delivery services. Curbside pickup is available for app orders.

The Grand Rapids location at Kalamazoo Avenue is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

Company-Wide Special Olympics Donation

Jersey Mike's participated in its annual "Day of Giving" on March 25, donating 100% of all proceeds to support the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games and Special Olympics of Michigan. This nationwide charity event allows franchise locations across the country to contribute to a meaningful cause.

All of Jersey Mike's proceeds on Wednesday, March 25 went to benefit the Special Olympics USA Games and local programs, continuing the company's commitment to community support.

Jersey Mike's Continued Growth in Michigan

The Grand Rapids area now has multiple Jersey Mike's locations to choose from, with the new additions joining more than 70 others in Michigan. The Kalamazoo Avenue location is the newest in the area, while Cascade offers another convenient option for sandwich enthusiasts.

The brand's roots go all the way back to 1956, when it first opened as Mike's Subs in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. The company took a major turn in 1975 when a 17-year-old employee, Peter Cancro, bought the business with help from his high school football coach. From there, he grew it into the nationwide chain we know today, eventually rebranding it as Jersey Mike's and leaning into a classic East Coast sub shop feel.
