A 34-year-old man from the Grandville area has been arrested in connection with a yearlong string of window-peeping, surveillance, and home invasion incidents at off-campus housing units near Grand Valley State University in Allendale Township, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office.

The suspect was taken into custody on Thursday, Sept. 17, in the Georgetown Township area and lodged at the Ottawa County Jail. Deputies have not released his name pending formal charges and arraignment.

Investigators said the incidents have been occurring since September 2025 in off-campus housing areas, primarily in the vicinity of Pierce Street and 48th Avenue near the GVSU campus. The sheriff's office said it has received 12 reports of similar cases involving a man peering into windows and recording female residents inside their apartments. In some incidents, the man allegedly entered apartments while residents slept.

The final reported incident occurred at about 4:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 14, at an apartment on Becker Drive. One of the female residents woke up to find the man inside her bedroom and called police, but the suspect fled before deputies arrived, according to authorities.

Investigators said they identified the suspect using a range of techniques, including Flock neighborhood cameras. The incident remains under investigation.
