A new coffee shop is coming to downtown Grand Rapids this spring. Foxtail Coffee will open inside the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel, taking over the space currently occupied by Starbucks.

The opening is scheduled for spring 2026, according to WZZM13. The Starbucks location inside the hotel will close on Nov. 30 before renovations begin.

"We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences. Foxtail's warm, inviting atmosphere and quality coffee make a perfect complement to our hotel."

The new location will feature a full redesign with expanded seating and a streetside patio. A custom hand-painted mural will also be part of the new space.

Foxtail Coffee will offer a menu including handcrafted coffee, teas, pastries, breakfast sandwiches and gelato. The coffee shop will also offer beer and wine options to draw in hotel guests and people exploring downtown Grand Rapids.

"Foxtail Coffee is more than just a coffee shop; it's a place where people are encouraged to gather, connect and make themselves at home," said Jason Mulder, director of franchise operations for Foxtail Michigan. "We're looking forward to bringing that spirit to the Amway Grand Plaza and the heart of downtown Grand Rapids."

Extended hours will accommodate evening guests.

Foxtail is an Orlando-based company that currently operates six locations in West Michigan. Existing locations include Ada, Byron Center, Cascade, Eastown, Grandville and Holland.

The Florida-based coffee chain operates more than 70 locations in Florida, Georgia and Nevada. Foxtail moved into the Michigan market in 2024 under a franchise deal with Baton Collective, a family office owned by Cheri DeVos Ehmann.

This will be Foxtail's seventh location in West Michigan and marks the company's expansion into downtown Grand Rapids.
