Ada's Summer Tradition Shuts Down River Street

Ada Township is preparing for one of its biggest annual community gatherings as the Beers at the Bridge Summer Concert Series returns for its 11th season. The kickoff concert is scheduled for Friday, June 12 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Legacy Park, with River Street closing to traffic for the event.

"The attendance has grown to nearly 3,000 people," said Kevin Austin, Ada Township Downtown Development Authority director.

Austin told FOX 17 that the event's growth reflects strong community demand for summer activities that bring residents together.

"Everybody wants this type of experience, they want this summer activity, they want this bonding with the community," Austin said.

Food, Music, and Local Vendors

The opening night concert features live music from Melophobix. This year's event includes more food vendors than any previous season. Attendees can expect food from:

  • Ada Fresh Market
  • Ada Garage Bar & Grill
  • Gravel Bottom Craft Brewery
  • O'Briens
  • The Lark Wine Bar
  • Love's Ice Cream
  • Mudpenny
  • Myrth
  • Papa K's Pizza

Beer, cider, and wine will be available for purchase from Gravel Bottom Craft Brewery, The Lark Wine Bar, and Railtown Brewing Company. Drink tickets cost $5 and go on sale at 5:30 p.m. Non-alcoholic and kid-friendly drink options will also be available.

Family-Friendly Riverfront Event

The event includes free activities for children and family-friendly entertainment. Organizers encourage attendees to bring lawn chairs and blankets for the riverfront celebration.

Visitors can also see recent improvements to downtown Ada during the event, including the Veterans Memorial and progress on the Pedestrian Bridge and Covered Bridge Park South.

Austin described the atmosphere that draws thousands to the event each year.

"The sun's setting, it's a beautiful, beautiful time. It's warm, but everybody is there, gathering right in the middle of the street in our event space," Austin said.

"It is just that opportunity to appreciate summer in Michigan," he added.

Parking and Information

Austin recommended arriving early to secure parking, as Ada Township expects a large crowd for the season opener.
